Glamor

It is warm
as I push myself out of bed
With cloudy eyes and disheveled hair,
I feel the breath of the sun on my skin

It is bright
as I attack the tangles with a comb
With toothpaste foam in my mouth
I squint to see myself through the sun's reflection

It is serene
as I coat my cereal in a blanket of milk
With the armory of a shiny spoon
I listen for the chirruping of birds in between bites.

It is calm
as I climb into the car and slide the door closed
With a tedious vocabulary list in hand
I recite their definitions aloud, in hopes of remembering them.

It is refreshing
as I clamber out, carelessly waving good-bye
With closed eyes,
I breathe the fresh air, sweet as honeydew.

It is disappointing
as I reach the classroom,
hair tied and teeth clean,
vocabulary words hovering above my head,
replenished and hunger-free,
With my palm grasping the door knob,
I bid farewell to the endless pleasures of
a golden and glamorous
Morning.

this poem is written in sort of an "exploding the moment" style - a small pinch of time can be expanded (HA, algebra) to so much detail. AND you write all this with the maturity and profundity of a professional writer. GOODNESS GRACIOUS angela <3
